Random Pub Adventure

I went into town yesterday to see about getting a jigsaw. (The power tool kind, not a jigsaw puzzle). Anyway, I didn’t manage to find a cheap one so I was making my way home when I heard someone shout on me from the other side of the street. It was Duncan Campbell. He claimed to be on his way to look at some art but soon suggested going for a pint. I think ‘quick pint’ were his exact words. ‘Good Idea’ I said so we made our way to the nearest pub, The Horseshoe. It became clear after four of these quick pints that maybe the pint drinking was in fact going to take priority over any worldly responsibilities. And it did. We eventually moved to The State Bar where we continued our mission. Being a Dubliner, Duncan is a fellow Guinness enthusiast and so this was the beverage of choice. What had started as a liquid lunch had turned into a liquid all-you-can-eat buffet with lots of liquid snacks in between. We drank with abandon and blethered until finally the pub closed and brought an end to an excellent session.

I then made the rash decision to walk home and somehow managed. (A pattern that seems to be emerging in my drunken, long-distance walks home is that no matter where I set out from, I seem to always walk to my studio, then walk home. Luckily, it’s on the way).
