Which brings me to my next point…

It’s not okay for some moron to pollute my wee corner of the web with porn and gambling adverts.

It is okay for me to ‘enhance’ my own site with slightly irrelevant incitements to consume more goods.

And so you may have already noticed that I have taken the liberty of doing so…

Assuming the manner and routine of an air stewardess explaining emergency procedures: The adverts on this website appear to your left on the main page and to the top of the page in all sub-sections.

Anyway, hopefully the ads aren’t too intrusive. They are provided by the clever and decent people at Google, which is in my opinion one of the very few big companies that actually seems like it’s run by humans. For a start, they’ve got a sense of humour. (Try using their search service in leet (hacker speak), pig-latin, bork or Elmer Fudd language). And their corporate motto is “Don’t be evil”.

The reason for the ads is simple- Burning Salad gets quite a few hits these days (about 1,500 every day actually) and it costs me £££ to keep it online (even when I’m not posting anything). And I don’t have much money.

Well, that’s one reason. The other one is that because the people at Google are so clever, the adverts are customised to the content of the page. The mind, as they say, boggles. A quick scan through the archives just revealed ads titled “Fear No Man” and “Weed Hotel”.
