Hubcap
The weather was good this morning so I walked into town. I was almost there, waiting to cross the road when a car went past and its hubcap came off. The car wasn’t going very fast and the hubcap was rolling along beside the wheel that it had just abandoned. And I found myself wondering what to do. It seemed like one of those situations when you see someone drop something without noticing and you point it out to them. (Unless it’s money, in which case you wait for them to go away). So in the absence of anything else to do I just stood there pointing at the hubcap as it rolled along. The car had turned the corner and it occurred to me at this point that I had no idea what I was pointing for. Then the hubcap stopped rolling, then the car stopped and then a mad looking girl jumped out of the passenger side squawking. Just in time to see a van run over the hubcap. Which was obviously made of plastic and had therefore been destroyed. So I stopped pointing. Then she just jumped back into the car swearing and I crossed the road.
I dropped by The Gallery Of Modern Art where I saw a couple of interesting looking paintings and to my surprise and amusement Ben Harman talking about a John Byrne self portrait on a monitor.
